The importance of having a website for any business

One of the most surprising things when you look at small businesses is how many of them don't have a website. You would think that in this day and age everybody would know how important a website is for all businesses. Clearly that is not the case. Any business that does not have a website is missing out on one of the most powerful marketing tools available to them.

The main reason that it is important for businesses to have a website is how people are likely to find you. These days most people will go online and research products and companies before they make a purchase, if you don't have a website you are missing out on all of this potential business. Even if people don't buy your product online they are still likely to research it online so you have to have a website so these people can learn about your business.

A website is also important because it helps you establish credibility as a business. Most people just assume that you have a website since the vast majority of businesses do, at least the vast majority of big companies do. There are actually still quite a few small businesses that don't have a website and without one this is exactly what they will remain. If you don't have a website that you can refer people to potential customers are going to assume that you are a small time company that does not take their business seriously. Once you establish this reputation it is going to be hard to make sales.

A website will not only give you credibility but it will also help to give the impression that your company is bigger and more successful than it may actually be. One of the great things about the internet is that the size of your company does not really matter. There is no reason that you can't get your site to rank in Google ahead of a large multinational competitor and funnel off some of their traffic. This is a big part of the reason that a website is even more important for a small business than a big one, it tends to level the playing field.

Clearly there are still a lot of small businesses that do not have websites, there are various reasons for this but mostly it comes down to the belief that they are expensive. It is rather surprising how much small business owners believe a website will cost them. In truth a website can be built for very little money and if you are on a tight budget you can even get free websites. Remember you don't need a giant ten thousand page website for your business, just a simple site that tells people about your company and your products will be more than enough.

Is Multi Level Marketing a Real Business?

The internet is full of MLM business opportunities that have made some people money and nearly bankrupted others. What most people want to know is, "Are these Multi Level Marketing ventures scams or the real deal?"

It's hard to get a clear answer from either side since each has an agenda, whether it is to get you to join their Multi Level Marketing network or not to. Trust me, it’s not hard to come across Blogs or Web pages for either side of the argument.

The typical set up for a Multi Level Marketing operation is a combination of direct marketing and franchising. This is setup in a top down fashion in which the parent company spawns independent contractors. They are in turn paid in accordance with the amount of sales their cell produces.

Thus a commission in a Multi Level Marketing network will be earned upon the sale of service or products. In some cases this will be to another independent product distributor. There are also a variety of compensation plans set up by different Multi Level Marketing networks, each being slightly different but maintaining the same goals of increased sales.

There are in fact many legitimate Multi Level Marketing operations in existence that offer a decent profit potential for their members. However the entire industry has been tarnished with a bad reputation due to the many scams associated with Multi Level Marketing.

The plague of Ponzi schemes and Pyramid scams has greatly contributed to the notorious reputation of Multi Level Marketing businesses. Amidst the hype and advertising it’s getting harder and harder to distinguish them.

An example of a legal Multi Level Marketing business that had to deal with the negative image of the industry is Amway. In 1976 they were sued by the FTC for selling motivational materials in their product line, which at the time was deemed unethical. It would be Amway’s victory in this legal battle that would open the floodgates for Multi Level Marketing style businesses.

The reasons that Multi Level Marketing networks are stereotyped as scams is because too many have burned their members. An example of a fraudulent Multi Level Marketing network is one that encourages it members to aggressively purchase products from their catalog knowing that the products are not selling well. Subsequently, the company collapses due to a poor marketing or business infrastructure leaving its members with an overstock of poor selling products.

The majority of criticisms and scam affiliations originate from the belief that the Multi level Marketing networks make their money from member fees rather than product sales. For instance I went to an MLM meeting where they were selling instructional tapes to go along with the products for $100. This type of activity is what gives MLM a bad name.

These days the Multi level Marketing industry is still booming due to some innovations in the business model. Proprietors of these networks will avoid calling them MLM opportunities due to the negative connotations. They will call it network marketing or something similar to draw in people that have learned to avoid MLM. In the end my advice is to very cautiously proceed with Multi Level Marketing. If you feel that you would be spending more on instructional material or undesirable products then stay away.

AMATEURS..Boast.

PROFESSIONALS..Never slap their own backs, and are oftentimes uncomfortable with others slapping their backs.

AMATEURS..Get nervous.

PROFESSIONALS..May be anxious, but they've performed the task so many times they let instinct take over, they go on their experience, nervousness never comes into the equation.

AMATEURS..Are looking for their one big break.

PROFESSIONALS..Know that life is about a series of breaks.

AMATEURS..Are afraid to fail.

PROFESSIONALS..Don't like to fail, but when they do they pick themselves up, dust themselves off and get back in the game.

AMATEURS..Interrupt.

PROFESSIONALS..Listen.

AMATEURS..Demonstrate their bile, they get frustrated or angry and it's easy to see.

PROFESSIONALS..Are cool, calm and collected. You may read about the crazy owner/operator/entrepreneur, but if they're truly nuts, they don't last, their board replaces them, and the truth is most are not that nuts, it just makes a better story in the press to portray them as such.

AMATEURS..Bristle.

PROFESSIONALS..Show empathy.

AMATEURS..Are always telling you how busy they are and how hard they're working.

PROFESSIONALS..Show up and stay as long as it's interesting and profitable, bitching gains them nothing, so they don't.

AMATEURS..Believe what people say.

PROFESSIONALS..Believe what people do.

AMATEURS..Have tons of ideas, are excited about all of them and see none to fruition.

PROFESSIONALS..Have tons of ideas, pick one and do their best to make it happen.

AMATEURS..Think they can do everything.

PROFESSIONALS..Know it's almost impossible to achieve one thing.

AMATEURS..Think they know everything.

PROFESSIONALS..Are always learning.

AMATEURS..Start with no preparation.

PROFESSIONALS..Do research, they want to know where the bodies are buried, what the landscape holds. Better to take all these factors into account before you start, because trying to adjust on the fly is so much more difficult, it wastes time and energy and it’s hard to put a fourth wheel on a car you designed with three.

AMATEURS..Don't finish.

PROFESSIONALS..Are all about execution. Sure, they occasionally abandon a project when they see further effort is fruitless, but the mark of a pro is someone who begins and ends. If you notice someone can't complete a task, run from them!

AMATEURS..Are worried about image.

PROFESSIONALS..Let their work do the talking.

AMATEURS..Demonstrate insecurity.

PROFESSIONALS..Are extremely confident.

AMATEURS..Can only see what’s in front of them.

PROFESSIONALS..Are all about the big picture.

AMATEURS..Hold those above them in contempt.

PROFESSIONALS..Hold no one in contempt, but they haven't got much time for losers. If you're an amateur trying to graduate to professional status and you have the good fortune to encounter a pro, DON’T WASTE THEIR TIME! Give just one or two compliments and ask your question. But most amateurs are so busy being sycophants the professional tunes out, or goes on at such length that the professional excuses himself.

AMATEURS..Have no idea what dues are.

PROFESSIONALS..Have paid their dues, and are still paying them.

AMATEURS..Believe in instant success.

PROFESSIONALS..Know anything worth accomplishing takes a long time, and what might look like overnight success is rarely such.

Who said it will be easy? (Hedi's Story)

When I started the business with Mega Holding, I was so excited.

In the first 45 days of my business I made $150 which was pretty good for me those days. So if it was so easy and if everything suppose to continue like that, I could make more than $100,000 in the first year! For a school boy that made less than $50 in all of his life, it seems a miracle!

So I decided to go a long holiday! For three weeks! It looked very smart for me.

We came back from the long holiday, we started again with a week delay and very soon we started hard work again, very hard, everyday, 15 hours, from 9 to 12 midnight, sometimes to 2.00 AM.

Nothing happened, a group of seven people, we really worked hard, nothing happened again, a month left, no sales, no commission, no income. Mocks of dream stealers made the situation even worst. They were all around.

After two and a half months of hard work without results, I saw myself frustrated and sad, sitting on a chair in Doctors Pavilion. My dear friend and sponsor saw me and asked why I was so sad, and I have talked about my frustration. I never forget his voice when he said: "YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION, why you should worry?"

A good way to find out whether you are in the right direction or not is to look at the others, if they are working with the same company and they get results so it means you can do it too, but nobody around me made money at the time! It was dark! Very dark.

I decided to fight! I decided to win. So I continued …

We started to sell,

We started to make money,

Organization has started to grow,

Dream stealers have disappeared!

And everything turned like a page, from the dark one, to the bright one.

From failure to success.

Who said it will be easy?

The thing is this, if you are sure that after six months or even one year everything will be great, many people are ready to wait and take the risk and work hard.

Three months of uncertainty is longer then one year of certainty. Uncertainty about the way, about the company, about the place you are doing business. About the sky! related or unrelated.

Few people are prepared to experience such days. So few people will succeed. It is scarce, scarcity makes value.

I like those days not because they were joyful, but because they were not! but because they taught me that the road of success goes trough uncertainty, failure, risk, doubt.

And because they have created a wonderful story, for me, to share with you.

How to Empower Yourself?

There is so much in life that we can't control, and you may sometimes feel powerless when things don't go as planned. However, by learning to empower yourself, you can begin to have a more positive outlook on life and enable yourself to succeed. The following suggestions can help you feel more in control, and allow you to better enjoy both your professional and personal life.


Remember that your past failures don't predict the future.

Think of that big test you failed back in high school; did it prevent you from graduating? Did that time you knocked over the cone while parallel parking stop you from becoming a good driver? Past failures are nothing more than learning experiences. Instead of dwelling on them, figure out what you can actually 'learn' from them. That test you failed probably taught you how to study more effectively for future tests, just as that parking incident helped you realize that you need to adjust your mirrors differently. Learn from your mistakes and move on. Empower yourself by taking control of your past to succeed in the future.


Lower the threshold for good things and raise it for bad things.

Don't make mountains out of molehills, but changing your perspective can show you what's really important in life. This morning, for example, you woke up healthy and able to take on your day. Realize what a great thing that is, and don't take it for granted. On the other hand, remember that spilling your coffee on the way to work isn't the worst thing that can happen; your house catching fire is more along the lines of something really bad happening that can change your life. Empower yourself by taking a moment to be grateful for all the positive things you have, big and small.


Make a list of everything good in your day.

This is especially important when you’re feeling like everything is going wrong. For example, did your children wake up smiling and happy to see you? Great! Add it to the list. Did a customer express her satisfaction with your service today? Put it on that list. Empower yourself by recognizing and appreciating the positive.


Look for and expect something great each day.

Every day will have something good in it, so be on the lookout for it. If you expect greatness in your life, you'll find that it comes more easily because you will be open to recognizing it as it happens. Being a business owner is something most people don't have the courage to undertake, so at the end of each day, if nothing else, take a minute to pat yourself on the back. You completed another day, achieving your dream and doing what you love. Empower yourself by developing an upbeat attitude and an optimistic point of view.
